Have you ever felt like no one notices what you do until you don't do it? This morning was one of those rush, rush, hurry up mornings. I overslept. Big mistake. I jumped out of bed, eyes hardly open, stumbling over shoes in the foyer, book bags on the steps, I finally found my way upstairs. First charge...the hardest one to awaken. "Rise and shine, another great day of life." No response. "It's time to get up, running late, not a lot of time." No response. I gently pull the covers off. With tone of voice a little stronger, "Wake up, you'll miss the bus. Get the sleepies out of yours eyes, it'll help you wake up". He opens his eyes in a squint. "Why'd you oversleep, Grandma?" In my mind, I'm thinking, no reason, just was up at 4:30 yesterday, in bed at midnight last night. Finally, he gets up, rushes around getting dressed, runs downstairs. He notices I don't have breakfast on the table. "Grandma, you didn't fix breakfast?" "Eat cereal, hurry up." I tell him. With a sigh, he goes to the pantry, trying to decide which kind. "Hurry up, you're going to miss the bus". I rush to get dressed, almost sure I'll have to take him to school. I look out the window, I see the bus across the pond on the next street. That means we have 5 minutes. "Hurry, he's coming!" I yell. In a panic, he runs upstairs, not finishing his cereal, brushes his teeth, runs downstairs. Can't find one shoe. "Grandma, where's my other shoe, you always have them right by the door." By this time, I'm in a panic. Finding the shoe, he grabs his book bag. "Grandma, where's the book I brought home. I'll get in trouble if I don't have it. "I saw it in the family room last night, go get it" I tell him. One minute left. "Grandma, why didn't you bring it up? You always make sure my stuff is in my book bag." He runs downstairs, grabs the book. As he is running upstairs, he says, "Gosh, Grandma!!" I kiss him, tell him to have a blessed day and push him out the door. The bus is pulling away. Thankfully, the driver sees him running down and waits for him. I'm thinking to myself, yea, why didn't I fix breakfast, why didn't I look for his shoe last night, why didn't I bring that book upstairs? Sigh, do you think he will notice tomorrow morning?

Too funny! Maybe you should let them make sure they have their stuff together the night before.
We had a similar episode this morning with Sam. He is so slow at getting ready. He wakes me up with his sobbing and in a frantic because Wesley is already out the door waiting for the bus. He can't find any pants to wear! "Oh my! Are you serious! You wait until it is time to get on the bus to tell me you don't have pants? Why don't you have pants to wear?" I am of course mad at this point! He says he has outgrown all of his pants! (and I guess he just waited til today to let me know!) I really don't think this is the issue but I could be wrong. Maybe he has had a growth spurt since Dec. when I bought him new pants to wear! So now I will have to have a fashion show to find out what fits and what doesn't! I told him from now on he has to have everything ready before going to bed!

This is the funniest post. Reading your other posts, you should do a daily column in your local paper. I'll bet you would have tons of readers. I plan to visit Saved By Grace daily. It will be exciting to read what's next.
