March 14,2008-Don't Look Back

In the book of Genesis, two angels brought Lot and his family out of Sodom because God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The angels warned them not to look back. (Genesis 19:17) Lot's wife wanted to go back to her old life in Sodom, so she disobeyed and looked back. Because she did that she was turned into a "pillar of salt". Actually, she was caught in the destruction.

Jesus warns us as His followers that when He returns to earth, He will come suddenly (at the blink of an eye) and we should be ready. Once we asked Jesus to be our Saviour, we aren't supposed to want our old sinful life, so we don't "look back". If we think about Lot's wife, we won't. If we keep our eyes focused on Him and follow Him, we have to be willing to lose that old way of life and find a better life in Christ. If we "look back", we can lose our way.

It's not easy being a Christian, and we face of lot of ridicule because we are, but God will always light our way.

Let your light shine so bright that others can't help but notice. The blessings of your faith far outweigh the struggles that will be faced.
