Mondays are usually just laundry day, but today I put my three chickadees to work. Last Wednesday was the last day of school (and am I ever glad) so Thursday and Friday I allowed them to be lazy and sleep as late as they wanted. I told them, however, that the summer wasn't going to be sleeping half the day and staying up half the night. So, today, when they were still asleep at 10:00, I rattled their chains a bit so they'd wake up. After getting themselves awake and breakfast, I reminded them of the chores they chose for the summer. I gave them all a list a few days ago, and they chose what they wanted to do, in addition to their regular chores which include making their beds first thing, picking up and putting away anything left in their rooms from the night before, and making sure the bathroom is presentable. They have always been in charge of the entire upstairs because that's the floor they use. Reinna ran the sweeper and dusted, Chasey ran the dishwasher and emptied it when it was done and Braydon sorted laundry in piles. As the laundry got done, they folded and put away their own stuff. I also had them go through their bookbags and cubbies and pitch what they didn't want, put away what they wanted to keep. While they were doing their chores, I cleaned the kitchen floor, two of my four bathrooms and did some book work. It was a busy day for all of us, but when it was all done, we still had time to just hang out until supper. After supper, they all did their own thing......Reinna went to a ball game, Braydon went with her at her request (I knew she loved him) and Chasey hung out with Dad (she doesn't like the heat so she didn't want to go to the game) I hung out awhile with my hero and then played some scrabble with Annabelle. After the game, one of the player's mom invited Reinna and Braydon to swim at their house, while Chasey visited friends. By 11:30, everyone but me was in bed and asleep in no time. I sat outside in my swing for awhile, thanking God for another wonderful day of life.
Sigh, it's a great life.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY AT THE BOTTOM OF POST

You are my angel. We may be miles apart and not talk everyday but you're always there when I need you and you say just the thing I need to hear. Both of these posts today are perfect. With the end of school and baseball we're doing the same thing with John and Shelby they have things they need to help with like taking out the garbage and making sure their rooms are picked up. As for my Angel, I need you always and miss you terribly. Love always and forever - Donna
Well that sounds like a busy day. Sometimes those are the best though, I love the feeling of an accomplished day lol.
